Okay, time to play a little game, Ready? Here goes...
Diversity. Tolerance. Philanthropy. Homophobia.
Do you have your answer? Okay, all together now...1...2...3...
That's right. Changing your entire daily routine to avoid harmless, semi-nude interactions with homosexual people is - in fact - not one of the ideals embraced by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.! Congrats on being a rational human being in the year 2017! You get a gold star!
Honestly, I feel bad for Israel and their New York representation. How many well known black jews are recognizable in both places? They are probably wishing they had gone with Drake now, but their other obvious candidate was already conveniently stationed in the homeland. Hindsight is 20/20 and I can't imagine they saw Amar'e Stoudemire talking about a potentially gay teammate like he's 'Patient Zero' in their immediate foresight. I suppose they could have done a better job vetting their nominees for an honor that celebrates both 'Black History Month' and the most prominent civil rights leader in history, but still - they had a pretty limited pool to pick from if they wanted to stick to their Judaistic roots. Some would say that misgiving this award to a guy right before he made it clear that he only promotes diversity and tolerance when it benefits people like him is poor timing, but you can make the argument that the Oscar's set a pretty topical precedent for backsies. Might want to go grab STAT out of Temple, demand that he return the only significant accomplishment he has other than 'NBA Rookie Of The Year', and 'Moonlight' that shit on over to Aubrey's house. I can't imagine the accomplishment in question will carry much clout if it remains in the home of a person that would install an electric fence if he heard it kept those pesky gays out.
