Don't get mad now America, because this is exactly what we asked for. I asked for it when I said there were better ways to advocate equality then by literally sitting on your ass. Every overly conservative windbag with a social media account asked for it when they - either directly or indirectly - told Colin Kaepernick to do something tangible to the cause or get of "their" country. Guess what White America? As is usually the case, we got what we wished for and we undoubtedly didn't like it. You want tangible? How about a pair of socks? Don't tell me you can't touch, feel, and see those. Don't tell me absorbent footwear featuring law enforcement as farm animals doesn't hammer home the point that African Americans are institutionally marginalized by society. You didn't like a football player that makes millions upon millions of dollars a year sitting down during your precious song and refusing to salute your precious flag? Welp, this one's for you.
It's impossible to have a rational debate in 2016. Literally impossible. I can't go more than 5 minutes without switching who I agree with in this whole debacle out of fear that I might be associated with the most radical of people from either side. I respected Colin Kaepernick's cause but I disliked his actions. Then I went online and the San Francisco police were asking for an apology for no reason, hundreds of thousands of people were making their inherently racist feelings known through the guise of "Patriotism", Tomi Lahren was - once again - pompously spewing self important trash everywhere, and I instinctively boarded the S.S. Kaepernick. Now I go back online, he's intentionally wearing socks that take undeniable aim at a profession that is largely responsible for keeping everyone of every skin color safe, and I have to abandon ship before I wrongfully get seen as a moron's first mate. Oppression IS rampant in society, but I'll be damned if it holds a candle to this epidemic of primitive stupidity.
UPDATE: Pictures are from August 10th. He's surely matured since then. Probably doesn't even own them anymore if I had to guess...
