Can we just state the blatantly obvious real quick? That cheerleading routine sucked. I know the bigger story is that it featured the 'n' word, but - independent of the content - the effort was just as offensive. Either straighten up the arms, get some height on those kicks, and annunciate as you proudly belt out every letter of the most universally shunned racial slur, or don't spell the racial slur at all. The latter is preferable, but if you absolutely have to "impress" your friends with risqué/despicable snapchats then maybe don't make it obvious that you know how stupid you're being by trying to muzzle yourself with a fake speech impediment. Honestly? I don't know if it pisses me off more that this girl was racist, or the amount of thought she put into trying to veil her racism as she ironically took part in an activity that requires someone to boast loudly and clearly in support of whatever it is they are cheering for. If her performance was a bit better than her age could be blamed for her lack of understanding of such an awful word, but the fact that she went full "Heller Keller" as she #uneasily rushed through her routine is proof positive that knew how prejudice it was. I guess the lesson here is this: Discrimination is always inexcusable, but it somehow feels even worse when delivered in the form of sloppy, hardly legible cheerleading.
