Don't get me wrong, Jay Wright's reaction to winning the National Championship was an instant classic. There are not many people that could drop a casual "bang" and then keep a straight face while experiencing that type of elation. However, let's not act like of a large part of the reason for his tempered response wasn't due to the relief he felt. Most of us have felt the highs of winning a big game, but the part we don't usually discuss is the comfort we feel by not losing. Avoiding the agony of defeat is more satisfactory for us fans - especially in the long run - than the joy of victory. Now imagine what it's like for Jay Wright. A man that has put his heart and soul into working his dream job for the last fifteen years, and repeatedly come up short. Constantly fielding teams that had the talent to win the National Championship that could never put it all together when it mattered. The collective pressure he's felt over the last decade and a half has to weigh a metric ton. So yeah, his reaction was as cool as the other side of the pillow, but that's because he just had King Kong airlifted off his back. The win was nice, but not as nice as not having to deal with the stress of losing again. Usually it would take the average person a couple minutes of yelling, screaming, and jumping around like an uncontrollable asshole, but eventually we all reach the point where we get to take the most satisfactory deep breathe of our lives. Jay Wright just prioritized his over the excitement that was inevitably coursing through his veins. CBS reporter Tracy Wolfson? Well, not so much...
