Klay Thompson Doesn't Think He'll Be Sacrificing Anything Despite The Addition Of Kevin Durant8/2/2016 Uproxx- The Warriors’ All-Star guard and current Team USA baller alongside Durant has been talked about as a potential “sacrifice” candidate considering all the shots Durant and two-time MVP Stephen Curry will take. Thompson doesn’t think it will go that way, though.
“I feel kind of disrespected that people keep using the term sacrifice to describe me and describe us,” Thompson told Shams Charania of The Vertical.“We all want to see each other do well. But I’m not sacrificing [expletive], because my game isn’t changing. I’m still going to try to get buckets, hit shots, come off screens. I want to win and have a fun time every game we play.” It's going to be so exciting when it happens. If there is anything I learned from this contentious Klay Thompson quote it's that he still hasn't experienced his moment of clarity quite yet. The realization that - despite being one of the most promising, talented players in the NBA - he's now 4th in importance on his own team is going to be a beautiful disaster once it finally hits him. It might not be during the offseason or the preseason, but eventually Klay's touches WILL go down and when they do he will understand that it's impossible to add a top 3 player in the NBA without sacrificing shots and stats. I honestly didn't think that would come as a surprise to anyone. I'm starting to question whether or not somebody fulfilled their mathematics requirements at Washington State because that's about as simple as number's games get. Klay Thompson; Not a guy you'd want helping your kid with his homework or splitting a pizza with you. If I were a person that was genuinely concerned about the cohesiveness of the Golden State Warriors I would suggest that Klay Thompson go lay up on Chris Bosh's couch and let him explain how this whole scenario is going to play out. Unfortunately, I want to see them implode so I am just going to sit back and watch as Klay Thompson slowly but surely becomes nothing more than a lock down defender and complementary spot up shooter. Hopefully in the process of eating these words he accidentally regurgitates some that might be divisive to a locker room that clearly doesn't understand that cutting it into more pieces doesn't make the pie any bigger.
