Rough Translation: “I think you’re gonna get to the Finals. I swear to God. No bullsh*t.”
Disclaimer: I don't have anywhere near enough deaf friends to be able to lip read whether or not Gregg Popovich just predicted a Toronto Raptors NBA Finals appearance, but for the sake of argument that's exactly what we are going to assume. You know what they say, opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one. That being said, if there was one asshole - I mean - opinion that was worthy of closer examination it would be Gregg Popovich's. Just when you think the Cavaliers season can't hit anymore obstacles, they have the smartest mind in basketball preemptively burying them before the playoffs even begin. Obviously anything can happen in the postseason, but if there's one man whose prediction I would invest in it's the Head Coach of the San Antonio Spurs. I was already starting to think that no team could overcome the amount of adversity that the Cleveland Cavaliers have let LeBron James create for them all year, but no endorsement rings louder than one from the architect of the most perennially successful team in NBA history. Pretending like I just definitively watched Gregg Popovich guarantee that the Raptors will win the Eastern Conference is like getting a psychic reading when you already have a prior agenda before staring into the crystal ball. I was just going to hear what I wanted to hear anyway, and what I wanted to hear is that the most self loathing team in the NBA won't even be there to give it's "fearless" "leader" an opportunity to complete his handful of NBA Finals losses. Thank you LeBron for being an insufferable dickhead, thank you Kyrie Irving for getting cheated on, thank you Kevin Love for resigning in Cleveland, thank you Tyronn Lue for being a towel boy/pushover, and thank you Gregg Popovich for being able to identify that dysfunction when you see it. h/t Uproxx
