I'm stunned. Just absolutely stunned. Not because Marques Colston wrote a letter to Saints fans. That's just the new thing. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but writing a letter to a fanbase has become an obligation of sorts after spending an extended period of time in one city. Especially if you achieved the amount of success that Marques Colston did in New Orleans. Regardless, I am stunned that this letter came out as quickly as it did. If there is one thing I know about the 'Quiet Storm' it's that he's not much of a wordsmith. In fact, I think I have heard him say approximately 45 words over the course of decade. I'm not even completely certain that I could pick his voice out of a lineup if we are being honest. Maybe he's more of a writer, but I was under the impression that he was just an introvert that wasn't big on expressing himself. That's why I thought it would take much longer to get a full paragraph out of him. I was expecting to wait at least until training camp to get a message that was refined enough for public consumption. He must have put pen to paper well before he got cut. Saw the writing on the wall and gotten a head start on things. I can't say I blame him. His dismissal was all but a forgone conclusion, much like his inevitable induction into the New Orleans Saints Hall Of Fame. I think I speak for all Saints fans when I say that the 7th round pick that somehow remained selfless while shattering every single team receiving record doesn't owe us any thank yous. However, it is nice to know he stuck to the guidelines of my favorite Chinese proverb, "man of few words use large print".
