Hmm, the Head Coach of the New Orleans Saints and the starting quarterback of the New England Patriots. What bond could they possibly share? What motive would Sean Payton have to post a picture of a tribute constructed primarily as a "fuck you" to the league that unceremoniously suspended Tom Brady for a quarter of the season? Gotta tell you, I can't really see the connection. I know the two franchises held mutually beneficial intra-squad scrimmages together doing training camp, but that can't be enough of a reason for Sean Payton to go out of his way to publicly bring attention to the Patriots exterior decorating. I know he's got a good relationship (or as good of a relationship as one can have) with Bill Belichick, but that can't be what drove him to publicly endorse the billboard sized photo of his starting quarterback. I'm trying to put context to this tweet and I just can't figure out why Sean Payton would sympathize so heavily with an accomplished player that had his reputation dragged through the mud and his career put on hold due to nothing more than highly circumstantial evidence.
In all seriousness, I love the Sean Payton's readiness to support the Patriots pettiness just as much as I love the Patriots pettiness. I would expect nothing less from the coach that refuses to let his players give postgame interviews after games that are aired on the league's very own network. It's not even remotely surprising that the guy who intentionally made a cameo on the one show the NFL tried to cease production on got a certain satisfaction out of seeing one of the most successful franchises in football act equally as spiteful to their common foe. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, and friends aren't worth a damn if they can't even give each other's pointed acts of passive aggression some love on the internet.
