Two Minutes, Well Worth It

This 15 Year Old That Worked For Ten Weeks, Without Pay, At The Local Corner Store Will Get Nothing And Like It

Yahoo-  A teenager who spent 10 weeks before and after school working in a shop to save up for Christmas has been told he won’t be getting paid.

Jay El-Leboudy, 15, had been working mornings and evenings in his local Londis for over two months in a bid to save up for gifts for his family.

However, when he came to collect his overdue wages he was told by the boss that he wouldn’t be getting them – as he was on unpaid work experience. Furious mum Zoe Buckwell said the store’s owners – who were family friends – had arranged an internship with the view of taking him on part time.

She says he had been working two days a week at the shop in Canterbury, Kent, since.

She told The Canterbury Times: “Jay worked nearly every day during half term."

"He always made the effort to be there on time and worked way past 9pm, which was the time we agreed."

"Ten weeks on, when Jay was working twice a week 5.30pm until 9, he hadn’t received any pay. He was hoping to have his money in time to buy Christmas presents.”

Well Jay, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like you're going to have to get creative with the Christmas shopping this year, and you have no one to blame but yourself. Not because you didn't work hard enough to be compensated for your man hours, but because you're literally the world's worst 15 year old. Come on man. Have you learned nothing in school? Kids your age are supposed to be entitled brats. They are already supposed to be trying to negotiate a raise by lunch time on their first day. They definitely aren't supposed to let 2 and half months go by before they finally put their hand out. There are fucking child laborers knitting Nikes in third world countries that have a stiffer spine than this kid. You want a suggestion Jay? Don't go into sports management because you can't negotiate a contract to save your life, and given your mother's whining, that skill doesn't run in the family either.

I bet this convenience store owner had every intention to pay this kid. That is, until he worked through one of the four seasons without making a peep about a penny. Hey Jay, if you want something, maybe speak up before you go and work through, at minimum, 5 straight pay cycles. A 15 year old working 10 straight weeks without asking for money is the equivalent of Milton from 'Office Space' going a decade without a paycheck and that guy was, to put it lightly, a retarded pyromaniac. Basically what I am saying is that Jay was indeed wronged, but I can't feel bad for him because he was such a retard about it, and I hope he doesn't burn my apartment down for saying that. Enjoy the work experience kid. Maybe next time you'll be smart enough to know that there is no one in the working world that is looking out for you if you're not looking out for yourself. That's a lesson that should pay more dividends than some unpaid internship in a shitty bodega.
