And they say subtlety is a lost art? Ha! Colin Kaepernick has basically mastered it. No wonder he's been begging to be traded from the 49er's. That didn't seem to make any sense in the moment, but I'll be damned if it's not starting to come together now. He was just playing the long game. Don't want to put all your cards on the table at once. Sure, Chip Kelly's offense is pretty much the only thing that could fix his career, but transforming himself into a capable staring quarterback again would require time, effort, and film study. Don't work hard when you can work smart. Way easier to engineer a trade to a team that can win despite you.
Colin Kaepernick doesn't necessarily want out of San Francisco, he just wants in on Denver. That's totally understandable. Why get better at your job when you can paid the same amount to decrease your responsibilities? The Broncos haven't just proved they can win despite a lack of talent at the quarterback position, they proved they barely even need a quarterback at all to become champions. Talk about a perfect situation for Colin Kaepernick. An offense whose ability to win isn't predicted upon it's quarterback's ability to throw?! All he has to do is hand it off a bunch of times, maybe scramble every now and again, and lean almost exclusively on a great defense? He can do that! Hell, he's already made it to a Super Bowl doing that! This is a match made in heaven, and I apologize for ever questioning whether Colin Kaepernick's elevator reached the top floor when apparently he's a next level thinker.
