Source- A court fined a 23-year-old man in North Rhine-Westphalia after he admitted to giving his girlfriend a sedative so that he could keep playing video games with a friend.“I only put four or five drops into her tea,” the man told the court in Castrop-Rauxel as he admitted to the crime, the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung reported.
On an evening in August 2014, he was playing on his games console with a friend when his (now ex-) girlfriend arrived at home at around 10pm.
After ten hours at work, she had understandably been planning on having a quiet evening rather than one punctuated by the clatter of machine-gun fire or computerized commentators screaming over a non-existent football game.
The woman slept until midday the following day after drinking the drugged tea.
“Then I got up and drove to work although I was nodding off again and again,” the 24-year-old told the judge.
She added that her ex, too, had been on drugs at the time, which was the reason for their breakup shortly afterwards.
“Your girlfriend slept long and deeply, which didn't harm her, but this is certainly a premeditated bodily harm,” the judge said as he sentenced the man to pay a €500 fine.
“It was stupid, but now I'm on a straight path,” the ex-boyfriend said, adding that he had been off drugs for 10 months and would soon begin an apprenticeship.
I'll go on record saying it's never right to drug someone without their knowledge. Whether it's for a peaceful night of gaming or for nonconsensual sexual gratification, it's always best for people to be fully aware of what they are putting in their own bodies. I know, hot take, right? With that said, when you date a gamer who also happens to enjoy the use of drugs, you kind of got to expect something like this to happen. This is the exact reason why most drug addicted video game enthusiasts don't have girlfriends. Think about that for second. The use of drugs is essential to enhancing the video game experience. Shutting your girlfriend's fat, judgmental mouth may be an unorthodox way of doing so, but there is no better way to enjoy 'Call Of Duty' to it's full potential. Still doesn't let him off the hook for drugging her. But you know what, the day that girl came home and started criticizing her boyfriend for being himself, that relationship was already over. Why not slip her a mickey and then tell her about it the next day? There is a 100% chance of that relationship ending instantly under those circumstances. All this guy had to do was pay a fine to avoid a minimum of 365 days of a grueling, drawn-out breakup, and he was even nice enough to let his girlfriend get a good's night sleep out of it. If you could just pay money to put an end to a bad relationship wouldn't you?
Now, if you believe him he used that year to better himself, and get himself clean, but we all know the truth here. You don't roof your girlfriend to play XBox then become a productive member of society mere months later. That just not how the progression works. At best he cut down his gaming hours to 5 a day, and his drug use to once a day, and even that's being optimistic. Either way I would say both are better off without each other. Only gamers are supposed to date gamers, anyone else is just begging to get induced until comatose.
