DailyMail- A police officer in Pennsylvania was able to thwart an armed robbery inside a taxi on Monday just by randomly pulling the car over.
The would-be robber, Victor Martinez-Herrera, 18, decided to pull a gun on his taxi driver, Ralph Valletta, after Valletta stopped his car in Wyomissing around 4.30 p.m. However the thug didn't realize the taxi had stopped because a police car had signaled them to. Then, just as he had grabbed the money from a terrified Valletta, the officer materializes at the side of the car, and realizes what was going on. You know what this thief's problem was? A lack of confidence. There was no way he was getting away with robbing that cabbie at gunpoint. Not just because there was a police officer about 10 feet behind him when he tried to do it, but because he was about as decisive as Trent Richardson on 3rd and short in the process. I liken this attempted heist to a kid who is hesitant while going cliff diving. He wasn't fully committed to going through with it and he basically tumbled his way to a rocky fate. You can almost see him in the back of the cab like "What am I doing? This is stupid. There is no way I am going to get away with this". Then he realized that time was of the essence and acted accordingly. Unfortunately for him he did so with next to no conviction. Seriously, there was only about a second there where he had his gun to the driver's head and looked like he was even remotely devoted to success. Now, he wasn't going to pull it off regardless, but if he thought that he could he wouldn't have gotten causally dragged out of a backseat 20 seconds after pulling a gun. This scene didn't even seem real, and I think it's because there wasn't one person in the video that thought this kid was capable of pulling the trigger, and that includes himself. If there is a lesson to be learned here it's that you probably can't rob a taxi driver in front of the cops, but you definitely can't do it if you're only going to put in a half assed effort.
