According To This Survey, Nearly 10% Of Recent College Graduates Think 'Judge Judy' Is On The Supreme Court
CBS- Judge Judith Sheindlin has held some high-profile positions in her career over the years – having been appointed by Mayor Ed Koch as a Manhattan Criminal Court judge in 1982, and rising to supervising judge of Manhattan Family Court in 1986.
That biography does not include a presidential nomination, congressional confirmation, or service on the U.S. Supreme Court. But a new report Tuesday claimed that many recent college graduates think Sheindlin is among the nine justices.
The report claimed that surveys show that recent college graduates are “alarmingly ignorant of America’s history and heritage,” and that colleges and universities are doing little if anything to address the knowledge gap.
The advocacy group in the late summer of last year commissioned a research firm to ask recent American college graduates and the public at large about their understanding of American government. The group called the results “abysmal.”
A total of 9.6 percent of the college graduates marked that Sheindlin was on the Supreme Court, the report said.
The last thing I am going to do is sit here and argue on behalf of the intelligence of a bunch alcoholic alumni. I think it's pretty obvious -to me anyway- that 'Judge Judy' is a member of 'The People's Court' and anyone that doesn't know that should be ashamed of themselves. With that said, I am going to need to know how this question was worded, because I KNOW that Judge Judy isn't on the Supreme Court, but I have no fucking idea whether Judith Sheindlin is or not. My lack of familiarity with the name would lead me to believe that she isn't, but there's no way I could have told you that with any certainty. This survey isn't surprising. There are a lot of college graduates who are very dumb, but can we just let them be dumb without having to trick them into sounding stupid? The only reason that 9.6% of kids don't know which court Judith Sceindlin serves on is because 100% of kids don't know who Judith Sceindlin is. The other 90.4% just happened to guess right. This would be like asking a bunch of kids what sport Terry Gene Bollea played. You know how many would get that question correct? Probably none, because unless you refer to him as 'Hulk Hogan' nobody gives a shit.
I have to put my foot down here. Not just because this survey was flawed, but because it implies that it's ridiculous that 'Judge Judy' could be on the Supreme Court. If networth is the benchmark for success then Judge Judy is SHITTING on every single one of those justices. She makes $45 million dollars annually, and only works 52 days a year. Every think that the only reason that Jude Judy isn't on the Supreme Court is because it would be financially irresponsible for her to do so? Can we stop treating the Supreme Court like it's some important part of our American heritage? Didn't they JUST legalize gay marriage like 5 minutes ago? I bet Judge Judy has been on that bandwagon for decades. The only reason I would memorize the names of the Supreme Court justices is to make my insults more personal when I criticized them for being so resistant to equal rights for homosexuals. I guess what I am really saying here is that someone thinking Judge Judy is on the Supreme Court is more of an insult to Judge Judy than it is to the Supreme Court.
