I know this feels weird to say after staying up into the wee hours of the night watching them get pulverized by a far superior Ducks team, but I fucking love this team. Now I admit that is due - in large part - to the fact that Devils fans have never before gotten a peek behind the curtain because their former General Manager/control freak liked to keep his player's personalities under lock and key. Still, that doesn't make it any less entertaining to watch their most promising forward and most promising defenseman take shots at each other on social media. I don't know how you factor a sense of humor into a player's monetary value, but if I were Kyle Palmieri's agent I would bring a list of his Twitter antics to the negotiating table. As overachieving as this team has been on the ice, they have been just as entertaining off of it, and that's what's made them so much fun to watch this season. Ya know, when they aren't playing shorthanded against one of the best teams in the league on the ass end of a West Coast road trip.
All I know is Kyle Palmieri needs to be locked into a long term deal as soon as possible. Not just because his childhood jew-fro would put Richard Simmons to shame. Not just because he's a young, talented player. Not just because he apparently fits seamlessly into a locker room that couldn't possibly seem more cohesive. But because he has an incredible online rapport with the future leader of the Devils backend and that's a ball busting bromance whose breakup better be years down the line.
