First things first. I am sure this quote was taken out of context. I know that is always the easy excuse, but I highly doubt Austin Rivers would risk stepping on any toes in the organization. I am certain that he wouldn't want to potentially get a tongue lashing at the hands of his father while in the midst of one of the most important playoffs runs of either of their lives. With that said, I am especially certain that there isn't a play on the basketball court that Chris Paul is incapable of running better than Austin Rivers.
You want to delve into that further Austin? What sets are you better at running than CP3. They must not be very common in the Clippers offense given that Jamal Crawford, a man that had 6 turnovers at halftime, started running the point in your place halfway through the first quarter. I would think if there were sets to display your expertise that your father, of all people, wouldn't have hesitated to use them instead of having his starting power forward handle the ball at your expense. Come to think of it there might be some areas of the game in which Austin Rivers fits the bill better than Chris Paul. Pretty much any set that doesn't require the point guard to be the primary ball handler. Any set that requires the opposing point guard to go under the screen because he doesn't respect the opponents jump shot. Any set that is designed to draw a double team on literally anyone else on the Clippers roster. Any set that requires DeAndre Jordan to grab a super human offensive rebound. Basically I don't see Chris Paul being too adept in a situation where it isn't necessary for a point guard to have a considerable amount of talent. Why don't we just stick to smiling and nodding Austin. The playoffs are an awful time to put your foot in your mouth, even if the only other point guard on the roster is currently injured. Which set is this exactly?
