Beloved Former Saint Lance Moore Signed With The Falcons...And Then Retired After One Practice8/8/2016
The beauty behind Lance Moore deciding to sign with his former rival and going through all of one practice before unceremoniously retiring is that it doesn't make all that much sense. I suppose the most logical assumption is that he slapped on the pads, went balls to the wall in the Georgia heat, and realized he no longer had what it took either mentally or physically to go through the rigors of training camp. Unfortunately for Falcons fans, the absence of certainty renders logic relatively useless here. In fact, the confusion Lance Moore caused by essentially pulling a 'sike' on Atlanta has opened up a world of possibilities to Saints fans looking to forge an opinion on his true intentions. Maybe be got to Atlanta, saw how their practices were run, and realized that being a professional football player wasn't worth being part of such a tire fire of an organization. Maybe he thought he would get more accurate targets catching footballs from his wife in the backyard than he would from Matt Ryan. Maybe he just signed on for one practice as his final troll to a franchise that he used to absolutely torture on the field. Want to get a look through these black and gold glasses? Maybe, just maybe, he got his hands on a playbook and he sent the future HoF quarterback he used to make magic with screenshots of everything his arch nemesis had to offer this year. I'm not saying that's what happened, but who's really at liberty to say that's it's not? How can I definitely determine whether any of that is out of the question for a team that's perennially marred by futility? Sure, it's more than likely just a host of rationalizations as to why a beloved member of the Super Bowl Saints would sign with a team that he used to give nightmares, but it's a host of rationalizations that support one indisputable fact. Lance Moore would rather not play football than play football for the Atlanta Falcons. Take that as you may, but I choose to treat it as the ultimate "mic drop" capping a great career and yet another - in a long line - of L's taken by the Atlanta Falcons at the hands of someone that calls the Who Dat Nation home... P.S. Never forget...
