LBS- Following a 13-3 season and a trip to the NFC Championship, Arians knows expectations are high in Arizona. But regardless of what happens, he won’t be seeking employment elsewhere.

“Oh, yeah. You never know how long this will last,” Arians recently told Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic. “There’s the old saying, there’s two kinds of coaches, ones that are fired and others who are going to get fired. You just enjoy every day. Right now, it’s the highlight of it. There will be lowlights, we know that. But I’m enjoying every single day.”

“This will be my last job,” he said.

As Marc Sessler of NFL.com notes, Arians said in 2011 when he was an offensive coordinator with the Pittsburgh Steelers that that would also be his last job. The organization and the fans love hearing it, but things can change in a hurry.

I was all set to say that Bruce Arians was full of shit. That his uber confidence in remaining head coach of the Arizona Cardinals until retirement was misguided. That it would be a mere pipe dream for him to finish out his career with his current team given the amount of turnover in his field. That was before I realized something I probably should have already know, Bruce Arians is SIXTY THREE YEARS OLD! I would love to say it's the baldness that keeps him youthful, but let's be honest - it's the Kangol hat and the hipster glasses that have knocked about a decade off his perceived age. I thought being a professional football coach was supposed age you, not keep you as spry as ever. I bet Bruce Arians could walk into any old cougar bar right now and scoop up any lonely widowed housewife from the ages of 35-50 in a moment's notice. Hell, maybe this will be his last job. I don't think he's ever loved coaching football anymore than he does right now, but if he can convince me that he's still in his mid-50's then he can certainly convince the Cardinals to keep him around until he, himself, decides to call it quits. Might be a lot of miles on those legs, but if he gets canned in the next 5-6 years like most coaches do he'll be able to get out before the tank is on empty....and come back a year later when he's bored to tears without football.
