Ahh, fantastic. The most consistently good player on a consistently bad defense is probably out for the first 1/3 of the season. Just what I wanted to hear. Listen, if the Saints had to suffer a serious injury to their defense then the secondary was the only level of that defense that could really absurd that hit. Now granted, they can't absorb all the hits, because the only starter in the secondary to play football in the last couple of weeks is the one that just got his side slit open. However, by all accounts, Browner and Vaccaro will be healthy for the season opener. Not only that, but this provides a glorious opportunity for CFL standout, and Louisiana native, Delvin Breaux to bring the flashes that he's shown in training camp to a meaningful football game. It also gives last year's second round pick, Stanley Jean-Baptiste, a chance to get significant playing time and prove that he has improved drastically since his incredibly underwhelming rookie season.
Hey, sink or swim. This is the NFL, the teams that end up achieving greatness overcome injuries. With the season right around the corner there's nothing left to do but give these guys a chance to earn their paycheck. The good news is that no one expected the Saints defense to be worth a shit anyway. Surprise, surprise, they are going to have to ride the arm of Drew Brees. Me thinks we will see a couple of 35-31 shootouts in the first few weeks. Oh well, what else is fucking new? Get healthy Keenan. We are going to need you down the stretch. Who Dat!?!
