Clint Eastwood's Harmless 'Caitlyn Somebody' Joke Pulled From Guy's Choice Awards Because Society Sucks Now

Daily Mail- An inappropriate joke made by Clint Eastwood mocking Caitlyn Jenner's transgender status during the taping of the Guys Choice Awards is set to be cut before it is televised.

The 85-year-old actor made the remark during the Spike TV event on Saturday when he was introducing Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.

According to Hollywood Life, the Oscar winner made his faux pas when he compared the San Andreas actor to former athletes who have gone on to establish careers in acting.

He then mentioned: 'Jim Brown and Caitlyn Somebody...' during the taping which took place at Sony Pictures Studio in Los Angeles.

The ceremony is due to air on June 18, and according to USA Today, the gaff will be cut when it is televised.

David Schwarz, Spike TV senior vice president of communications, told USA Today: 'We will remove the reference in the version that will air.'



So this is it, huh? We got Louis CK making pedophilia jokes on SNL. Sarah Silverman making rape jokes seemingly on a monthly basis. However, Clint Eastwood saying some cookie cutter remark used sarcastically toward someone that has been getting an insane amount of publicity is the line? Think about that for a second. At the risk of sounding overly dramatic, we are compromising the first amendment for a 'Caitlyn Somebody' joke. Great, I was starting to get tired of laughter anyway. Might as well criminalize it. Way too many happy people walking around enjoying their day through the use of wisecracks. It doesn't matter that what Clint Eastwood said was a victimless joke. Not insulting or offensive in the least. Didn't trivialize what Caitlyn Jenner has gone through. Hell, he even referred to her by the proper name. If anything what he said was a shot at the rest of society for being so obsessed with a transgender person. God forbid someone hears that and somehow interprets it as intolerant. Can we maybe stop pandering to the people that get offended by everything? It's really starting to get in the way of us normal people that have a sense of humor to worry about.

Couldn't we just dial up Caitlyn and see if she had a problem with it? I highly doubt someone as socially liberal as she is would have a problem with Clint Eastwood trying to get a cheap laugh. We are talking about a person that, right or wrong, is about to the beneficiary of a courage award. She has been through far more shit than a little quip about her popularity. Can we stop treating her with kid gloves? I thought that was the whole point. She gets to have fake tits, wear a dress, and tuck her dick back and we get to treat her just like everyone else. Guess what? Popular people get 'Caitlyn who?' or 'Caitlyn somebody' jokes. That is just how it goes. The fact that a well respected celebrity felt comfortable enough saying it is symbolic of how well Caitlyn Jenner has been received. Can we stop being such pussies by trying to protect someone that, literally, has the balls to handle it herself? 

Plus, we are talking about the true man's man here. Clint Eastwood has a grandfather clause. He shouldn't have to play by the same rules in this increasingly outraged society.
