The Chip Kelly effect! Who says you need talent at the quarterback position? Who says you need talent at any position? It's all about the system. Put the players in the right position to succeed and it doesn't even matter if they are good or not. Why else would the NFL increase the price of a Colin Kaepernick jersey? It's certainly not because he's gotten any better at football. It's because Chip Kelly's mere presence adds at least 25 cents on the dollar to his market value. The ink on the contract hasn't even dried yet and Colin Kaepernick's quarterback rating already went up 20 points. He hasn't even taken a snap and his touchdown to interception ratio is flourishing. That's just Chip Kelly's genius at work. You can say that the price of his jersey only went up because the likelihood of Kaepernick remaining a 49er just increased exponentially, but that's just shortsighted thinking. The NFL would never be so frugal to charge full price for a product that represents a bargain basement talent unless that talent was being taught by the most revolutionary coach of this era. They know - like I know - that Colin Kaepernick's career just got saved by potentially the greatest mediocre head coach of all time. Don't believe me? Just ask DeMarco Murray.
