— Todd Cordell (@ToddCordell) October 10, 2016 Love it. There might not be a position in all of hockey in which a player has to be on higher alert than the backup goalie. Teams are always trying to find younger, cheaper options to fill in for the starter when he needs a break, but I don't need to tell Keith Kinkaid that. No sir. He's fully aware of the business side of things. How does he keep up with all that off-ice shit, you ask? By staying current with his Twitter searches, of course. That, my friends, is the way to go into the season with a chip on your shoulder. Make sure you stay abreast of all the slights that have been made towards your ability on the internet so that you can use them as motivation and then passive aggressively shove them back in the face of their source when you re-secure your job. Scott Wedgewood? Ha! You mean the guy that Keith Kinkaid played onto the waiver wire. Funny you mention him, because - after passing through those waivers - he's headed down to minors to provide insurance for the man with the all-too-subtle social media presence. Can't say that Todd Cordell's opinion was all that crazy, but the person whose livelihood it would have effected most seems to disagree enough to remind him of how wrong it was. Personally? I'm glad Kinky is sticking around. He had some struggles last year, but for the most part he's been more than solid as a backup to Schneider. A sample size of 4 NHL games (albeit 4 great NHL games) from Wedgewood shouldn't make people forget that, but hell - we all know that one bad game from the most consistent player on the roster will have suicidal Devils fans calling for both of them to start in place of him. P.S. Speaking of social media presence, really ridiculous how far the Devils have come since Lou Lamoriello was refusing to acknowledge WiFi as something that deserved to be budgeted. Fucking franchise went from pre-Gore to #TheBoneZone in just over a year. Truly remarkable...
