Father Of Boy With Down's Syndrome Was 'Fired' From Chili's For Asking Coworkers To Stop Calling Him A retard

CBS- A Plum woman is using social media to voice her outrage about a local Chili’s restaurant after her boyfriend was fired. 

Crista Miller says her boyfriend, Bruce Casper, was fired from his job at the Chili’s in the Pittsburgh Mills Mall this past weekend after complaining to management about employees using offensive language.

Miller and Casper are getting married later this month. They have three children together. Their youngest, a 16-month-old toddler named Kyron, has Down syndrome.

Miller says on her Facebook page that her boyfriend was allegedly called a “retard” by two female employees.

She says when he made it clear that his son has Down syndrome, and he wouldn’t tolerate the word, the manager said, “You can leave then,” and he did.

Casper has been advised by a lawyer not to talk about the firing. 

“One of the managers has used the word retarded just in conversation, which is completely inappropriate,” Miller said. “Not only for Kyron, but for all kids with special needs, whether it’s Down syndrome or something else. There’s a right and there’s a wrong, and this is wrong.”


Human beings are born with certain rights. One of those rights happens to be the right to not be called a 'retard' while they are doing their job. Especially if they have a child with Down's Syndome and ask you nicely to stop using abusive language. Therein lies the problem, because a waiter at Chili's is not a human being. A waiter at Chili's is a servant. A servant that really isn't granted any rights. You want a productive workplace environment try working in a cubicle. Try working at a company that has a human resources department. You think the manager of a Chili's is the most morally sophisticated person in the world? You think he is going to understand how painful it is for you to be called a retard when your son suffers from a handicap? I'm sorry to inform you that he dropped out of high school 2 months before he learned proper human etiquette. He's just trying to get through the day without smoking weed in the bathroom. He's too busy mentally preparing himself for the next time he has to sing 'Happy Birthday' to some whiney little bastard and his friends to care about your feelings.

They didn't change the description of your child from 'mentally retarded' to 'Down's syndrome' because people were abusing the 'R word'. They changed it because there are too many stupid people in the world that are worthy of that description. You're working on kid number 3 dude. If you think that job at Chili's was going to support your children then you are a retard. Do you know how bad this guy has to be at his job that two other members of the staff considered him 'the dumb one'? Bad enough to interpret an empty threat as a firing. As far as I'm concerned "you can leave then" isn't a dismissal. This guy wasn't fired for standing up for himself and his family, he was fired for walking out mid-shift. I guess I shouldn't expect him to understand that. After all, the dumbest person at a Chili's is pretty borderline in terms of being mentally capable. 

P.S. If his stupidity was all a ploy to get called a 'retard' and then sue for his kid's college fund then I take back everything I have said.
