So if the the Edmonton Oilers somehow ruin Connor McDavid we can go ahead and just disband them as an NHL franchise, right? I'm not even interested in giving them a long leash. If his kid isn't dominating the league within the next 3 years we should just burn the Rexall Place to the ground and move the team to Quebec. Maybe have McDavid re-enter the draft to avoid any potential stink from the Edmonton franchise making the trip over? I swear the fact that the Edmonton Oilers somehow won the draft lottery again is a test to see how detrimental they can possibly be a players future. For the sake of our viewing pleasure let's hope that answer doesn't remain the same as it has for the last decade. If these videos are any indication it would take a pooch screwing of epic proportions to not capitalize on his potential.
Jesus Christ. The point of that drill is to have a forward and defenseman go one on one, right? I honestly couldn't even tell from watching those limited reps. It legitimately looked like Connor was going against a bunch of sled hockey players. There wasn't one person that was close to matching his speed and these kids are his peers. NHL prospects that were barely within a stick length 2 seconds into the drill. Then they scrimmage and it basically looked like Sidney Crosby was playing open hockey on a Friday night against a bunch of kids that just came from a frat party. Goddamn it. After the Devils missed out on winning the lottery I just convinced myself that this kid wasn't going to be THAT good. I guess he just shoved that theory about halfway up my large intestine like 6 minutes into Prospect Camp. The speed, the hands, the change of direction. This kid is going to be special and I guess I should just be happy that he's not playing in the Metropolitan Division.
