Giants Offensive Lineman Ereck Flowers Pushed A Reporter, But I'm Guessing He Probably Deserved It10/10/2016
LBS- NJ.com says Flowers was talking with two reporters in front of his locker after the game when ESPN’s Jordan Raanan came over. Flowers apparently made it clear that Raanan wasn’t welcome. The two had a brief exchange, which apparently ended with Flowers shoving Raanan.
Here’s how NJ.com says the exchange went: Flowers: “Hey, get out my face man. Don’t come over here.” When Raanan didn’t move, Flowers moved his face close to the reporter’s and asked, “You hear me?” Raanan: “I’m just trying to do my job.” Flowers: “Go over there.” Raanan: “I’m just trying to do my job.” Flowers: “Get the (expletive) out of my face, bro. Raanan: “I’m just trying to do my job.” Flowers then said, “Go over there, man,” as he shoved Raanan. Look, I am not even remotely close to defending Ereck Flowers here. I'm not sure there is a right way to react following a game in which your performance could only be described as horrific, but getting into a physical altercation with a reporter is undoubtedly the wrong way. That said, I'm also not spilling any tears for Jordan Raanan either. Personally, I think these reporters have gotten too big for their britches. I know they have a job to do, but if they insult a 300+ pound man while doing it then they should expect a little contentiousness in return. It's not like Flowers wasn't being accommodating towards the media. He wasn't being accomadating towards ONE MEMBER of the media that I am assuming has said some less than glowing things about him in the past. Call me crazy, but - regardless of your profession - if you disrespect a physically superior man that's twice your size then refuse to leave him alone when he asks you to then a shove is on the low end of what you are probably deserving of. I don't feel like doing the research to find out where Flowers' volatility towards Jordan Raanan stems from, but I am going to take a shot in the dark and say someone has probably taken a couple of liberties while writing about the skill set of the Giants left tackle. That's his right as a journalist, but it's not a right that should allow him to feel untouchable while defiantly standing in front of a 6'6 human being that can break him in half. Ereck Flowers definitely shouldn't have laid his hands on a reporter, but you're a damned hypocrite if you say you wouldn't at least thinking about reacting the same way in a similar situation. At some point it became less about Jordan Ranaan fulfilling his responsibilities, and more about him hiding behind his profession while instigating an argument with someone who probably has a legitimate reason for hating his guts.
