Independent- Officials in San Francisco are investigating the death of a young analyst at Goldman Sachs who complained to his father of working '100 hour weeks', hours before his body was found in the car park next to his apartment.

The authorities have said they believe Sarvshreshth Gupta, 22, killed himself after working through the night and struggling to match the demands he felt under.

The graduate of the University of Pennsylvania who was born in New Delhi, told his father, Sunil: “This job is not for me. Too much work and too little time.”

Mr Gupta wrote about his son’s death in an essay posted on Medium, which has since been removed.

"By a quirk of fate, he was asked by his company, to reconsider his resignation and under pressure from me, he rejoined."

"Poor son, he re-joined and did his best to come to terms with hard, continuous work, no breaks, no sleep and no respite."

“He calls us and says, ‘It is too much. I have not slept for two days, have a client meeting tomorrow morning, have to complete a presentation, my VP is annoyed and I am working alone in my office’, ” his father wrote.

He added: “I got furious. ‘Take 15 days leave and come home,’ I said. He quipped, ‘They will not allow.’ I said, ‘Tell them to consider this as your resignation letter.’ ”

I'm going to throw on my deerstalker hat and play Sherlock Holmes for a minute. Save these cops a few hours of investigation just because I am a nice guy. There are two potential ways this guy died. Either his father killed him, or his father ignored his final plea to live. Best believe an Indian kid complaining to his father is absolutely a last resort. I don't believe this "take 15 days and come" nonsense. That doesn't sound like an Indian parent to me. Indian parents are just like Asian parents, they demand a strong work ethic. This kid extended the final olive branch to save him and his dad chopped that shit down, and beat him to death with it. You better get out that bright light and interrogate the shit out of that guy. No wonder he wrote to a website about his son's death and then immediately took it down. He wanted to get his alibi out there before he realized he was overcompensating. Even the pressure of a 100 hour work week couldn't compare to the pressure he felt from his father.

His dad may be a dick, but is there any doubt that this kid was selfish? Bellyaching about free time and following it up with suicide? Clearly this kid has spent too much time around white people. Fucking Sarvshreshth and his first world problems. Oh, you don't have enough time to yourself because of your six figure salaried position? Stop disrespecting your culture. You think your parents worked their white collar job 19 hours a day to give you this opportunity just so you could bitch about it? When I was still living in Jersey, the same Indian guy was running the pump at the gas station every single time I stopped there. If I go to the 7-11 next store I am guaranteed to find the same nice, little Indian kid at all hours of the day. If I ever bother to peak over the counter I would bet my morning coffee that there is a mattress and a mini-fridge back there. Why do you think Indians have a proclivity towards internet jobs? Ever called a customer service hotline and not spoken to an Indian person? It's because those jobs require around the clock maintenance . You think Gokul became the world's best speller by complaining about work-life balance? I'm a middle class, white aspiring blogger. I am supposed to half ass my work and hope good things happen to me. Sarvshreshth is an 22 year old Indian kid in finance, he was hired because his boss didn't think he concerned himself with silly things like rest and a social life.

Have some respect. This was my peer and friend.
I don't care about your notions about work life balance. This was a human being.
