LBS- Hardy has not maintained a close relationship with the Carolina Panthers since the team chose not to re-sign him last year in the wake of domestic violence allegations. So when a fan, 38-year-old Jeremy Smith, pulled out a mini Panthers helmet at a Gameday Sports Tours promotion Monday night, Hardy refused to sign it.
“No, I can’t do it,” he said. Instead, Hardy reached into his pocket, pulled out a $100 bill and autographed that. I was a little irritated because I spent $37 on the mini helmet,” he told Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News. “But he offset it by throwing down the $100 bill. I was a little surprised. It made me feel better.” I think it's just about that time that we accept Greg Hardy for what he is, and that is a terrible, awful, no good, very bad person. However, he is a terrible, awful, no good, very bad person that isn't going anywhere if, and it's a huge IF, he doesn't lay his hands on anymore females. With that said, I have to give credit where credit is due, because the guy can troll with the best of them. Study this situation for example. It would be easy to look at this and say this was Greg Hardy acting out of character by making a nice gesture for a fan. Is that really what happened here though? Was he not just using an autograph as a way of flaunting the fact that he still has disposable income to piss away despite being out of the NFL for over a year? Was he not just showing that, to him, money ain't a thang under the guise of being an approachable, fan friendly athlete? Every other thing you have ever heard about Greg Hardy speak to that being the case, yet how can you criticize a man for signing away $100 dollars of his own money to a person that desperately wanted his autograph? The ultimate "jokes on you" moment veiled as a selfless act of good will. Who would have thought someone as fucking stupid as Greg Hardy would be capable of such deception? Let's look past the jackass that bought a Panthers helmet for a player that no longer plays for the Panthers to sign. He's indeed an idiot, but he's not the focal point of this story. Let's look, instead, at the fact that not only did Greg Hardy unintentionally waste $37 dollars of this guy's money by not signing his mini-helmet, but he just intentionally wasted $100 more dollars of this guy's money by signing his huge, probably self given, nickname across it. Jesus Christ, this sick bastard is just giving away unusable $100 bills and no one can definitively hate him for it.. Basically just gave this guy the option of keeping his autograph or becoming $100 richer. I know what my decision would be, but something tells me it varies from the decision of the guy that bought a souvenir just to have Greg Hardy's tainted name scribbled across it. Fucking Greg Hardy man. He just keeps fighting against all sorts of karma and somehow keeps winning. It's like he is a member of the O'Doyle family. When is his car going to careen off the side of a cliff?
