You know what's funny about this shot? The fact that it seeming so goddamn impossible actually makes it easier to take. Granted this guy had no other option but to launch it up from behind the backboard given the situation, but he also faced no pressure by doing so. No one expected it to go in. I bet half the people in attendance didn't even know if it counted after it did go in. Even the tall, awkward guy that shot it was hesitant before awkwardly marching back down the court. I bet if someone had whispered to him that you can't shoot from there he would have casually walked straight into the locker room without questioning it. I guess what I am trying to say is that this dude ended up in the perfect position for a buzzer beater. Taking a shot from a short distance, without the risk of being ending up the goat, and still having the ability to become an unlikely hero. You really want to take the edge off when the game is on the line? Make sure you're the guy shooting from behind the backboard. Just make sure it's after you grab an offensive rebound from an egregious poor jumper and you have no other choice.
