How Is It JUST NOW Becoming Public Knowledge That Half-A-Dozen Assistants Knew About Sandusky?5/7/2016 NBC- As many as six assistant coaches at Penn State witnessed "inappropriate behavior" between Jerry Sandusky and boys, stretching as far back as the 1970s, NBC News has learned. .
The information, which comes from court documents and multiple sources with direct knowledge of legal proceedings, raises new questions about how long the abuse went on, why no one stopped it and whether there could be even more victims than previously known. Sandusky — who worked in the football program at Penn State under legendary head coach Joe Paterno for three decades — is serving 30 to 60 years in prison after being convicted of molesting 10 boys he met through a charity starting in 1994. But sources told NBC News that one former Penn State assistant coach witnessed an incident in the late 1970s. Three other coaches — who have gone on to work in the NFL and at Division I colleges — allegedly saw inappropriate conduct between Sandusky and boys in the early and mid-1990s. In addition to the four assistants detailed by sources, court papers made public this week point to two more coaches who allegedly witnessed what was described as "inappropriate" or "sexual" contact between Sandusky and children in 1987 and 1988. There are not enough disparaging words to be said about what Jerry Sandusky did. There is also no shortage of criticisms to go around for his primary enabler, Joe Paterno. However, instead of talking about how horrific his crimes were or how corrupt someone would have to be to cover them up for four decades, I would rather question how we are still finding out new facts about this case now? Six assistant coaches WITNESSED varying degrees of child molestation between the late 70's and early 90's, and it took until 2016 for it to become common knowledge? Think about that timeline for a second. These guys saw debatably the most reprehensible crime known to man. They then told their superior before standing idly by for at least two decades watching it go unpunished. In 2011 the news finally broke that Jerry Sandusky was - without question - a sexual predator. The ensuing trial sent him to prison for life. The ensuing drama sent Joe Paterno to the grave for eternity. Now fast forward FOUR YEARS. Then, and only then, did we finally find out that multiple people knew about the repeated raping of dozens of children for damn near the entire time it was going on. I know I use the term "cult" in reference to Penn State a lot. Mostly it's just to get under the skin of the people who go/went there, but it's shit like this that really does a hell of a job of backing that claim. Six grown ass men went around with this on their conscience and didn't let it become public information until the body of the person which it would indict was fully decomposed. If you didn't consider Joe Paterno a modern day dictator then you might want to brush up on your history. He had so much control that he was able to keep over half a dozen people quiet from beyond the grave. Either these coaches are the biggest pussies on the planet for keeping it on the hush while their former boss had already kicked the bucket, or Joe Paterno's ability to manipulate people well into his undoubtedly fiery afterlife makes Hitler look like Byron Scott.
