Two teams. Both thought to be title contenders before the season started. Both entering the season having made significant roster altering moves in hopes of keeping up with the best the Western Conference has to offer. One hovering just under .500, and one hovering just over .500. One having just fired their head coach, and one with questions circulating about their head coach's job security. Both those teams haven't even given their new pieces even one quarter of a season to develop chemistry before making "exploratory calls" around the league. How crazy is that? 18 games. EIGHTEEN GAMES, and teams are already ready to blow up what they took all summer to build. What could be the reasoning behind such impatience?
Oh, I don't know, maybe it's the fact that the Los Angeles Clippers and Houston Rockets are already 9 games and 12 games, respectably, behind the team they view as the benchmark for success. The Warriors have literally been so good that they are making teams, that felt like they were equally as good, make ridiculously rash decisions not even 20 games into an 82 game season. That's not to say that the Clippers and Rockets don't have question marks. Doc Rivers still hasn't figured out how to properly utilize Lance Stephenson, treats his son that doesn't pass like a backup point guard, and hasn't developed a successful rotation. The Rockets don't know what the hell they are doing with Ty Lawson, and their star player looks like he's mentally sipping muay thai's with the Kardashian family. Still, don't tell me that these overreactions don't have anything to do with how flat out unstoppable Golden State, and specifically Steph Curry, have looked. The trading of a Ty Lawson, a Lance Stephenson, or a Jamal Crawford are deals you would normally see made by a team making a playoff push in late February. It's currently the FIRST DAY OF DECEMBER. Everyone calm down! Maybe wait until Christmas before the Warriors undefeated record sends you into 'NBA Live' mode. Steph Curry's start has been so indescribable that NBA General Managers are acting like fourteen year old's on an ESPN message board. Maybe go back to the drawing board for a month before frivolously jumping off the diving board into a relatively shallow trade pool.
