Is This The MOst Casual Murder You Have Ever Seen?

NY Times- A white police officer in North Charleston, S.C., was charged with murder on Tuesday after a video surfaced showing him shooting in the back and killing an apparently unarmed black man while the man ran away.

The officer, Michael T. Slager, 33, said he had feared for his life because the man had taken his stun gun in a scuffle after a traffic stop on Saturday. A video, however, shows the officer firing eight times as the man, Walter L. Scott, 50, fled. The North Charleston mayor announced the state charges at a news conference Tuesday evening.

The shooting came on the heels of high-profile instances of police officers’ using lethal force in New York, Cleveland, Ferguson, Mo., and elsewhere. The deaths have set off a national debate over whether the police are too quick to use force, particularly in cases involving black men.

Listen, I am not going to sit here and debate the differences of all the deaths of unarmed black people at the hands of police officers this year. That subject has been beaten to death and honestly, at this point, it's nauseating. However, is it fair to say that law enforcement in general is getting a little too casual out in the field? Whether you are gang member, Plaxico Burress, or a patrolman shouldn't you be a little more aware of your surroundings? You're a cop. You see crime everyday. Shouldn't you have learned something about it by now? Best way to conquer your 'enemies' is to be able to think like them, yet this cop is the worst criminal ever. There's just some random civilian standing 10 feet away taping you for 5 minutes as you proceed to shoot and stand over a slain unarmed man and you don't even notice or acknowledge his existence? Worst. People. Watcher. Ever. Guess they didn't teach you about peripheral vision in training, eh Officer Slager? Hey Michael, you ever just feel like.....

This guy going to go with the "I'm not racist. Look, my partner is black!" defense. Oldest trick in the book. Pretty cold blooded to kill a black man and then let your black partner come in and do the dirty work. Just based off the video it looks like the guy gives zero fucks too. Just ruthlessly standing over him without an ounce of remorse in his heartless body. "Put your hands behind you back!". Uh, man, you just fired off more rounds than the waning seconds of the 'Ruff Ryders Anthem'. All that was missing was a "talk is cheap, mothafucka!". His motor skills may not up to par right now, if he's even still alive for that matter. Completely soulless. The most disrespectful part of the video? 2:48. There you go buddy. The first rule of ethnic cleansing is to wash your hands clean afterwards. A video in which he murders someone and the most inhumane part isn't the manslaughter but the hand motion he makes afterwards. Better wash his hands now. The last place that he going to want to be with his lack of self awareness is a prison bathroom.

Starting to wonder if a viral video of a white kid falling victim to shoddy police work would be the best thing for the police force's public image right now. Being able to say they kill indiscriminately is a far more attainable goal than hoping for less casualties. Despite the microscopic percentage of officers involved in these incidents, every video creates more doubt in law enforcement, and subsequently brings us closer to the presence of the next one.
