I am not saying he is wrong about anything in regards to basketball. The Clippers will miss DeAndre Jordan's screening, rolling, rebounding, and interior presence. Those things are all true. Ahead of the Lance Stephenson trade, or the Paul Pierce signing, bringing back Jordan was priority number one. In that aspect the franchise certainly failed. Whether that had more to do with them, or DeAndre's strong interest in being given more offensive responsibilities is up for debate. Regardless of all that, the last person I want to hear sit there and be overly critical of the Clippers front office is JJ Redick. Don't get me wrong. I love JJ, and he brings a lot to the offense. Hell, he even flashed some solid defensive skills when he was given the responsibility of being the primary defender on Kawhi Leonard and James Harden in the playoffs. With that said, without the Clippers organization his career might be all but over. Now that is a testament to his hard work as well, but Los Angeles gave him the platform to show those skills and gave him a second chance at a lengthy, successful career in the NBA. He should be singing their praises at every turn, even if they did fail in returning a essential piece of their team.
There are times when it's refreshing to hear professional athletes speak the truth. For Clippers fans, this is not one of them. Lie to me JJ. LIE TO ME. Tell me it's all going to be alright. Everyone and their mother knows how big of a loss DeAndre Jordan is, but we don't want to hear that from actual members of the team. Fans need to hear some optimism so they can back off the ledge, not have JJ Redick point the fan out the window at them. Exude confidence, not disappointment. The Clippers didn't lose LeBron James, they lost a player that has a shooting percentage of like 3% when his hand isn't touching the rim. Yes, he was still an integral part of their success, but there is still a lot of talent on this roster. If the players aren't enthusiastic about the season then how can they expect the fans to be? An honest grade of an 'F' goes in direct opposition of our blind optimism. In this case JJ, we can't handle the truth.
