Well, that pretty much tells you everything you need to know about the state of basketball being played for two of the most storied franchises in NBA history. Jose Calderon, a guy that probably doesn't have all that many big moments in his career, doesn't even consider a game winning shot against the Los Angeles Lakers fist pump worthy. There's two instances when you can get away with showing no emotion in that situation. The first is when you do so ironically after making a huge play in a game that actually has postseason implications, and the second is when the game is so incredibly meaningless that you would be embarrassed to let people see you get excited about it's outcome. I think we know which designation this one falls under. I don't root for the Knicks or the Lakers, but this is just downright depressing. Jose Calderon is a professional basketball player for a New York franchise playing in Los Angeles and the way he reacted to making a game winning three is the same way that an office worker reacts after he finishes a spreadsheet and the coffee starts to have an effect on his bladder. I have looked more excited walking into a basketball game than Jose Calderon looked after he won one for his team. If you had put a gun in his hand just moments after he hit that shot I can't promise he wouldn't have used it on himself. Spike Lee is having an aneurysm in the front row and Jose Calderon looks like he has been clock-watching since his lunch break. I never thought I would see the day that making a "heroic" play for the Knicks resembled being called into your bosses' office at the end of a long day, but here we are.
