Kobe Bryant Skipped His Postgame After Party For A Very Kobe Reason, But Do You Think Anyone Really Cared?
Just when you think leaving the sport with 60 points in a pretty remarkable come from behind win was the biggest Kobe move of all time, he skips his surely extravagant postgame party because he has self-assigned work in the morning. I'd really love to criticize him for being a try hard that can't let loose for one night and enjoy the spoils that come with two highly successful decades in the NBA. However, it's probably the same mindset that's responsible for him being able to put up 40 shots as a 37 year old, and still having the energy to will his team to victory with the last ten or so. Let's just say I am not all that surprised that Kobe said "okay, I'm done playing nice and being around people for the day". If it were me I would be throat deep on a 400 ounce bottle of bubbly, but there's a reason no one has ever compared my on-court persona to a venous, deadly snake.
Here's the real question, you think anyone gave a fuck that Kobe was a no show to his own party? Pretty sure everyone that had any interest in congratulating Kobe Bryant on his performance did so on the court in front of hundreds of cameras partly to enhance their prestige. That party is strictly for celebrity schmoozing and networking. Just a reason for a bunch of A-listers to pat themselves on the ass and inflate their own egos. I suppose Kobe - whose entering into the business world - could have benefited from being there, but no one else would benefit from Kobe Bryant being there and stealing the attention away from them. Hey, I am sure it was a hell of a time, but I would imagine the self involved people in attendance hardly even realized the guest of honor was at home prepping for his first full day at the office. Especially in a venue this dope...
