Kyle Turley Went On 'Outside The Lines' To Definitively State That Donald Trump Has Alzheimer's

AwfulAnnouncing- ESPN’s Outside The Lines went way, way outside its usual lines Thursday thanks to former NFL offensive lineman Kyle Turley. Turley spent eight years in the NFL (1998-2007), and has now become a prominent advocate for the use of cannabis products (including someof his own) to treat football players’ mental health issues, and that’s most of what he’s been talking about, but he also claimed on-air that U.S. president Donald Trump has Alzheimer’s disease.

Turley has been making the media rounds in Houston during Super Bowl Week to talk about cannabis, mental health, the NFL and more, including appearances on OTL, FS1’s Garbage Time, and a variety of radio shows, plus a story in The Houston Chronicle. It’s comments unrelated to cannabis that really got attention, though. Here’s a clip of part of Turley’s OTL appearance Thursday (a day after his earlier appearance discussing cannabis and mental health), where as part of a discussion about Trump’s comments about NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Turley claimed that Trump is “the poster boy for Alzheimer’s disease.”

This is so, so perfect. Other than adding a little spice, what reason is there to invite a cannon as loose as Kyle Turley on a serious, journalistically responsible talk show? Why bring him into the discussion if you weren't looking for said discussion to trend towards the ridiculous? Someone tell Bob Ley to put his damn hand down before Kyle Turley rips off the helmet he's not wearing and throws it across the studio. I know he's the host, but when the preeminent showstopper on set has the floor it's no longer his job to interrupt.

Seriously, does anyone want Kyle Turley to suggest that medical marijuana could potentially be beneficial in the healing process for athletes that are at least slightly injured more often than they are healthy? I know I don't. I need Kyle Turley telling me that weed is the only elixir. I need him rolling blunts with prescription in hand and screaming 420 from the rooftops. Same goes with his political opinion. I don't want to hear Kyle Turley beat around the bush by saying the President of the United States seems to be forgetful. I need him sitting on a nationally broadcasted panel officially diagnosing the leader of the free world with brain deterioration. I need him shooting down naysayers as if his own battle with neurological issues makes him the foremost authority on spotting them through his television screen. You can't call your show 'Outside The Lines', enlist the services of a habitual line stepper, and expect the proverbial rails to remain occupied. Plus, definitively stating that Donald Trump has Alzheimer's Disease is only equally as reckless of a statement as definitively stating that Donald Trump doesn't have Alzheimer's disease. Bet you didn't think of it that way until Kyle Turley came along, did ya?
