Mark Cuban said he saved all his text messages from DeAndre Jordan and might detail them all at a later date.

Mark Cuban: "Some day I’ll let you read all the texts and we’ll get into it and we’ll talk about it, but now is not the right time."

Do I find it weird that Mark Cuban still has all the texts that he sent back and forth with DeAndre Jordan stored in his phone? No, as a matter of fact, I don't. This whole saga happened like three months ago. I kind of just assumed that he would have the entirety of their conversation readily accessible. Pretty sure I have texts in my phone from the first day I bought my first iPhone. The people that can tell you, if necessary, what they said to their flavor of the week at 3AM on a random Saturday in 2011 aren't the weird ones. The people that are constantly deleting all of their text messages are the ones that are not to be trusted.

With that said, the fact that Mark Cuban used the word "saved" is what genuinely concerns me here. I don't delete my texts because I am too lazy to delete my texts. They are still on my phone not because I am "saving them", but because I don't care enough to "throw them away". When you save something it means you might need it later and that's not the reason I hoard text messages. I hoard text messages because they don't take up any real, tangible space. Apparently Mark Cuban hoards texts messages because he plans on going back to them later. Because he has been sitting there everyday since July examining, and reexamining, the perceived tone and context of everything DeAndre Jordan sent him. You know when you go back to old text messages? When you aren't over a breakup. When you want to prove to yourself that you're not unjustified in feeling the way you do. When you want to reminisce of a happier day. Considering that DeAndre Jordan and Mark Cuban were only together for the better part of a week, the fact that he hasn't moved past the first stage of grief yet is downright troubling. Old text messages are like the shoes that sit in the back of your closet that you have no intention of ever wearing again. If you ever need that room for new shoes then you'l get rid of them in a heartbeat but that doesn't mean that you are currently saving them. Not only is Mark Cuban holding onto those shoes for dear life, but he's waiting for a later date to show them off to people. If that's not the thought process of someone that needs to be laying on his back on a psychologist's couch then I don't know what is.
