Matt Barnes Says He'll Fight Serge Ibaka Right Now

Is it a little disingenuous that Matt Barnes is saying that Serge Ibaka isn't about that life when he is a habitual shit starter on the basketball court? Yeah, probably a little. As far as the fans are concerned the only altercations we have seen Barnes in were broken up by teammates and didn't escalate past a flagrant foul or an exchange of choice words. With that said, it is kind of refreshing to see a professional athlete stick to his guns, so to speak, off the court. At the very least I feel comfortable saying that Matt Barnes is old school, which is like the biggest compliment you can give a basketball player this day and age. Far too often, players are playing nice-nice and saying whatever is politically correct. Matt Barnes is just here to remind us that it is okay to have some hate in your heart. You don't have to be friends with everybody, particular your competition.  

I got to say, as far as the fight goes, it's a toss up in my mind. Sure, Ibaka is a taller, bigger dude, but Matt Barnes strikes me as a no-holds-barred type of fighter. What's that they say? It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog? There is a lot of fight in Matt Barnes. Generally speaking I would rather not fight the guy that would go to any length to win. Plus, Barnes strikes me as the guy that you would literally have to kill to beat in a fight. That person that is just too prideful to say that enough is enough. He's still the underdog, but I would bet if that fight were to take place it would be a lot closer than expected. Who knows, maybe we'll find out...
