LOVE this move by the AD. His job is to have that stadium filled weekly and he has no problem voicing his concerns. We aren't talking about some hyphen school like Midwest-Northern MIssouri Tech. This is Michigan State. You know, the team that won the Rose Bowl last year?
I totally understand had the game been at noon against an out of conference bottom dweller. If you are lucky enough to have gone to a big football school you know how much a noon start sucks. Barely catching a buzz before you have to head in? Yuck. No one likes that. I realize sometimes you may not be in your seat for kickoff if the spread of the game is in the 30's. However, I can not even fathom why the student section wouldn't be packed to the gills. It was a night game against Nebraska. Plenty of time to tailgate and get nice and lubed up prior to kickoff. What the fuck were the students doing that they were missing a conference game? It ended up being a 5 point final, no reason to leave early either. You need a raucous student section against conference opponents. That's what makes home field advantage such a big deal. I will never understand students that don't go to the games at major college football schools. What else do college kids have to do on a Saturday besides avoid gonorrhea and get alcohol poisoning? Might as well do it outside on a nice fall day prior to getting rowdy with thousands upon thousands of your peers. Maybe if the Spartans had decided to come out to support their team I wouldn't have lost $50 on MSU -7. Thanks a lot you ungrateful dicks.
YIKES at the student section.
