Of Course It's A Rangers Fan That Is Suing The Rangers, The NHL, And MSG After Getting Hit By A Puck3/2/2016 Daily News- A hockey fan who says he was injured saving his son from a flying puck at a New York Rangers game in 2013 is suing the team, Madison Square Garden and the National Hockey League for unspecified damages.
The fan, Robert Cantor, suffered "severe and permanent injuries" on March 3, 2013, when he was "struck by a high speed projectile (puck)," according to papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court. Cantor, 59, of Westport, Conn., was seated between midrink and goalie with his 11-year-old son when a Rangers player's shot was deflected by a Buffalo player, according to Eitan Ogen, Cantor's lawyer. "It sailed over the plexiglass," Ogen said. "It was about to hit his son's face. (Cantor) put out his left hand to protect his son." The result was a torn tendon in the hand and wrist injuries that required surgery. Cantor also needed surgery on his right shoulder where he tore his right rotator cuff and labrum. A lot of people will say that this is nothing more than a frivolous lawsuit and a money grab. That this guy doesn't have "severe and permanent injuries" and that he's trying to profit off the misfortune of a puck sailing at the face of his son who apparently has no hand-eye coordination of his own. Those people would be dead wrong. What happened to Robert Candor on that fateful night will effect him forever. He lost something that night that he will never get back. His presumption that the New York Rangers owe him a goddamn thing died a horrible death that night, and the team, stadium, and league are just going to have to flip the bill for the funeral proceedings. I hate to do this two days in a row, but New York Rangers fans just won't stop openly displaying their undying entitlement. You want to say that this could happen with any team? You might be right, but to my recollection it hasn't happened with any other team so I refuse to believe it's a coincidence that it happened to the team with the most whiny, obnoxious, self righteous fan base in all of sports. A fat bald guy takes one puck to the arm and instead of worrying about why one wayward piece of rubber was able to cause FOUR different injuries he is already thinking he is owed something he did next to nothing to earn. Yup, sounds like a Rangers fan to me. Sorry MSG, you fill your building with a bunch of needy, delusional assholes then you are occasionally going to have to go to court when their severe lack of athleticism turns a potential souvenir into a life threatening projectile. That's just the cost of doing business when your clients are primarily blowhards. What do you have to say to that?
