OU Running Back Joe Mixon Has Been Suspended One Game For Getting Into It With A Parking Attendant11/2/2016 LBS- Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon is suspended for Thursday’s game against Iowa State, the school announced Tuesday, and now we know why.
According to The Oklahoman, Mixon had an incident with a parking attendant on campus Tuesday morning. Mixon’s attorney says the sophomore running back received a parking ticket and ripped it up. “He was frustrated, as most of us are when we get a ticket,” Mixon’s attorney told The Oklahoman. “He tore the ticket up in front of the parking attendant, and threw it on the ground.” “I regret that I did not respond appropriately to parking attendants and understand and accept the consequences,” Mixon said in a statement shared by the school. A parking attendant? A PARKING ATTENDANT?! Those people whose entire job description consists of fundraising for the university by stalking out and ticketing cars that have been in the wrong lot for no more than 30 seconds? Even those dickheads demand more respect on campus than student athletes now? Good Lord. I don't think college football players should be getting paid time and a half for going to practice and class or anything, but they should at least reserve the God given right to slander the entire livelihood of fictitious authority figures that gave up their right to personal dignity when they chose their line of work. We are talking about a once proud university like Oklahoma suspending their starting running back for tearing up a goddamn campus parking citation? Yup, that's right. Remember those little pieces of paper that you immediately tossed to the side and didn't bother paying until your ability to graduate was threatened? Joe Mixon just had his illegibility to play in a Thursday night game revoked because he made the person that tried to sneakily place one on his windshield and run off undetected feel bad about themselves by using mean words and a relatively fruitless act of defiance. What a sad, sad day. Not only has the curtain been peeled back on the type of highbrow shenanigans that are holding the Sooners back from returning to the National Championship discussion, but - apparently - the people whose occupation is dependent on pinching every penny from the all-too-empty wallets of college kids have even been granted their very own "safe spaces" too. If students - that are trying to better themselves academically or athletically - can't berate those that gain a sense of personal satisfaction by actively seeking out opportunities to ticket them then who else is going to remind parking attendants of their meager existence on the bottom of society's shoe.
