Police Department Discourages Gun Shaped Phone Cases Because Apparently Nothing Goes Without Saying Anymore

NY Times- An iPhone case that looks like a handgun is drawing warnings that it could be too easily mistaken for a real weapon.

That has been the message for weeks from some police departments in the United States, concerned that the case could add to the uncertainty of confrontations with suspects.

The cases — in black, white and pink — are made by a number of foreign manufacturers. Most appear to be imported from Asia.

Last week, Deputy Inspector Judith Harrison of the New York Police Department posted a message on Twitter warning consumers against buying the case.

The New Jersey State Police also recommended that people not buy the case.




Wait, wait, what's that you said Deputy Inspector Harrison? IT's NOT a good idea to carry a gun shaped phone case? Well, goddamn it. Now how am I going to increase my street cred without endangering lives? Jeez, I'm just trying to look like a bad ass out here in these streets, I'm not trying to hurt anyone. It's completely harmless! What could possibly go wrong by walking around with an all black replica gun in my back pocket, or by quickly whipping it out in public at a moment's notification? Next thing you know they are going to tell me to take the fake grenade off my keychain. 

It's pretty remarkable the things that people need to be told these days, huh? I'm pretty sure I learned that I shouldn't be walking around with anything that resembles a loaded, functional gun before I hit puberty. There should be an automatic alert that goes out to surrounding Police stations whenever someone buys one of these absurd phone cases. In fact, I think the people that carry things that look like guns are more of a danger to society than those that carry actual guns. Sounds silly, but hear me out. Worst case scenario of a person carrying a gun is an innocent person getting shot. I don't even know what the worst case scenario is when a person wants people to think they have a gun, but have to resort to other measures of violence when they face backlash for carrying a gun. I have no idea what those crazy bastards are capable of, and to be honest, I would rather not find out. Most rational advocates of gun rights are fighting for the ability to walk around with a completely concealed firearm, while a bunch of halfwits are trying to show off firearms that are only capable of firing out an email or shooting over a text. Somehow this ass backwards way of thinking completely fits into the modern state of society.
