Uproxx- “I got two techs this year for yelling, ‘Ahhh’?” Green told The Undefeated. “At this point, do I need to wear a mask? Am I allowed to show emotion on the floor? That’s who I am. I play with emotion.
“I love this game, so I’m going to show emotion. But if you yell, ‘Ahhh,’ after a dunk … I’ve never seen anyone get a tech for that.” “At a certain point, you kind of get a reputation and you’re judged off that reputation,” Green said. “I think I’ve gotten a reputation for arguing calls. That’s what I got techs for [last season]. I understand that. Now I don’t argue calls, so why am I getting techs for yelling?” First and foremost, I think it's about time we acknowledge that the Golden State Warriors are clearly the greatest team in the history of basketball. I'm not basing that off their championship team two years ago, or their win total from last year, or their roster reading like a Western Conference All Star team this year. I'm basing it off the fact that apparently they've been breaking records left and right without watching a single lick of game tape. Doesn't seem like the best way to improve internally, but it's the only explanation for Draymond Green saying "now I don't argue calls". Best team in basketball, never even watched themselves play once. Sometimes you just have to give credit where it's due. In all seriousness, I do happen to agree. Getting T'd up for screaming after a dunk is an NFL-esque overreaction. Pretty ridiculous that officials pay such close attention to every single little thing that Draymond Green - in particular - is doing on the basketball court. I mean, penalizing the poor guy for being emotional? Maybe getting him a mask, changing his number, and putting duct tape over his name plate wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. At least then they couldn't single him out as the overly enthusiastic team leader that he is. You know, unless he outed himself by kicking someone upside the head or low-blowing them like he was getting ready to hit them with a steel chair. If the 'King Kong' dunk celebration doesn't give it away then the proclivity to harm the genitals of other men certainly will. It's really a shame. Other than repeatedly drop-kicking people in the act of shooting, attempting to leave opponents impotent, and chewing the ear off anyone who blows a whistle with his donkey teeth, he's really done nothing else to draw the ire of NBA officials.
