I didn't want to kill these guys for failing to realize - in the moment - that Drew Brees is far and away the most accomplished free agent signing in NFL history. Partially because I don't know if i would be able to recite that fact off the top of my head if I weren't a Saints fan, but also because - regardless of it being their responsibility to know the in's and out's of pro football - I just don't think any of them are all that smart. That was made pretty evident when I reread the NFL's tweet. Talk about the ultimate double take. Peyton Manning, Deion Sanders, Reggie White...wait...PEYTON MANNING?!?! The guy that had his lifeless corpse carried out on top by one of the best defenses of all time after physically breaking down the year before and needing to be replaced during the second half of the season so he didn't actually die on the field? He could barely throw a football ten yards for half the amount of time he was playing in a new city. When you include him then the exclusion of a guy that brought relevance, a decade of eye popping statistics, and - most importantly - a Super Bowl championship to a franchise known for it's historical misfortune becomes inexcusable. I never put any stock into what analysts have to say. Never mind during the long, arduous offseason when they are just spewing crap from their mouth by the truckload for no other reason to fill shitty airtime. Still, would a little attention to blatantly obvious detail kill them? Drew Brees has debatably been the best quarterback in the league since he arrived in New Orleans, but he's definitely the best one to EVER get picked up off he scrap heap when his former team failed to see his true potential. Bet the NFL Network wouldn't conveniently forget the Saints if the segment was ranking (improperly punished) scandals.
