Ryan Tannehill Says He Didn't Say All The Things That He Definitely Said Because He Just Doesn't Get It

Ryan Tannehill on practice scuffle: "I said nothing about a paycheck. I hold myself to a higher standard than to say something like that."

— Jeff Darlington (@JeffDarlington) October 7, 2015

Tannehill said the walk thru got heated, he did make the "scout team trophy" comment, but he never said anything about money.

Ryan Tannehill: "Yeah, I'm upset. It's slanderous to report things I didn't say, to degrade my reputation, it's sickening to me."

— Jeff Darlington (@JeffDarlington) October 7, 2015

"I'd like to think as a team when something happens in this building & on practice field we protect each other," Ryan Tannehill said.

Oh okay Ryan. So whoever witnessed the confrontation between you and practice squad players correctly reported the one thing that you just admitted to saying, but completely made up the second part? That makes a lot of sense. Honestly, that's not even the point. I don't care if some journalist exaggerated a story to make it sound more egregious than it was. If Ryan Tannehill wasn't bickering back and forth with players who are paid to make him better than there would be nothing to exaggerate. The problem isn't what Ryan Tannehill said, or didn't say for that matter. The problem is how he said it. He may not have brought up anything about money, but with the way he talked down to the scout team, he was definitely thinking it. Maybe the person that, he claims, put those words in his mouth, just implied them from his tone? Who can blame them? "Enjoy your scout team trophy" sounds a lot to me like "I am better than you even if you are beating me". If performance on the field isn't his measuring stick then what is? Salary seems like the most logical next step to me.

Ryan Tannehill taking 'True or False?' tests on the things he has been reported as saying just accentuates the larger problem. He's the starting quarterback. The supposed leader of the football team. The person that should take full responsibility for the entire offense's futility. Yet, he is sitting there worried about his reputation. How about this Ryan, treat the practice squad like members of the locker room and the things you say to them won't make their way outside the locker room. Don't worry about them playing well, worry about what you are doing wrong that's making them look so good. They aren't on the active roster for a reason. Not because their sole purpose is to get belittled by you, but because they aren't supposed to be good enough to stop you. Your team just fired their head coach and has downright embarrassed themselves en route to a 1-3 record. Dolphins fans don't care is you're a douchebag as long as you win, so start worrying more about winning and less about clearing your name of the douchey things you probably (definitely) said anyway.
