BSO- Will was not “inebriated.” Orange Hummer suddenly stops in front of them, forcing them to slam brakes.
Will, Racquel were concerned for safety after Hummer braked; they saw no damage, so they continued on their way. Shortly thereafter, they notice Hummer pursuing them and “violently ram” the back of their car, causing back windshield to shatter. Will got out of car, saw driver of Hummer coming at them. Words are exchanged. Will’s intent is to find out, ‘Who is this guy? Why is he attacking me?’ (Hayes) is enraged, yelling and cursing. Situation was diffused, Racquel walked Will back to the car…” At this point, the killer follows him. Suddenly, 2 shots are fired. She is shot immediately in both legs and collapses. After Racquel was shot, the killer unloads six to eight shots into Will’s back. At no time during this event did Will Smith ever brandish or carry on his person a firearm. The killer showed no remorse whatsoever. As Racquel crawled away, cowering, Hayes stood over body of Smith. Here is my disclaimer: I am not an idiot. I may sound like one sometimes, but that doesn't mean I don't realize there are three sides to every story. We got the first one this morning, this is the second, and unfortunately we are never going to hear the one that actually matters. That one is the truth and -- as the truth tends to do - it would likely hurt both narratives we have been told. I know that Will Smith wasn't as innocent as simply wondering "who is this guy and why is he attacking me?" just like I know the 6'6, 250-300 pounder with multiple firearms in his possession wasn't some helpless punk that fired TEN shots at TWO different people out of fear. This account paints Cardell Hayes as some sort of cold blooded serial killer which I don't think is true given the remorse he showed in staying until the cops arrived, but I am also fairly fucking certain it's not the first time he has taken aim at another human being. I would bet dollars to donuts that the tempers of both men helped to escalate this situation, but only one man followed the other back to their car. Only one man had on a gun in his hand and pointed it at another individual. Only one man decided to use excessive violence on multiple people to put an end to a senseless altercation once and for all. Both parties in this case deserve varying degrees of blame, but it shouldn't be up for debate which person is responsible for this argument turning fatal - no matter which side of the story you choose to believe.
