DailyMail- The fiancée of Making a Murderer's Steven Avery has revealed for the first time that she broke off their engagement after he failed to adopt her Christian faith - but is continuing in her fight to prove his innocence. Sandra Greenman, 73, told Daily Mail Online that very few people visit Avery in prison and that his brothers, Charles and Earl, have never gone to see him in the nine years since he was convicted of Teresa Halbach's murder. Avery, 53, was sentenced to life without parole for killing the 25-year-old photographer in 2005. Her last known whereabouts was at the Avery family salvage yard, where she had gone to photograph a minivan for Auto Trader magazine. She said: 'Steve and I were engaged to be married and I broke it off. It's not that I've ever stopped trying to work for him but it was a religious thing. I cannot marry someone that's not a Christian.'Since we broke off the engagement, I've visited him less and less. It's too hard for me. I still love him and want the best for him. I want him out. 'He calls any time he can and he says I'm being stubborn. But we will see what happens. It's a friendship right now. If you haven't watched 'Making A Murderer' yet then just stop reading right now. In fact, stop reading all my blogs because if you have completely ignored the hoopla surrounding this case then you clearly aren't my target audience. Anyway, I think this news is a another step in the right direction for Steve Avery, because the craziest person on that show isn't the person that's potentially been wrongfully imprisoned for a vast majority of his life. It's not the sexting, pill popping prosecutor. It's not the handful of people employed by the Manitowoc County Police Department who almost certainly helped to frame Steve Avery for this crime. It's the woman that met him and started dated him WHILE he was in jail for this crime. I don't know who killed Teresa Haibach in cold blood, but I am not totally ruling out the lady that has a photoshopped picture of her and her boyfriend from BEFORE SHE EVEN MET HIM IN PERSON. This lady doesn't consider a murder conviction a deal breaker, but considers the refusal to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior a deal breaker. If there is anyone that can justify burning a woman alive and then dating the man responsible for serving her sentence then it's Sandra Greenman. In fact, there's nothing, outside of marrying someone with varying religious beliefs, that I think this lunatic is incapable of. Dumping the love of her life, a person that has spent damn near three decades in prison for multiple crimes he didn't commit, for not believing in God? If I spent six minutes in a cell for something I didn't do I would openly denounce the existence of a higher power immediately upon entering every single room I walked into for the remainder of my life. Christianity? How can Steve Avery believe in some antiquated set of beliefs whose common theme is that you get what you deserve? He probably barely believes his own testimony after spending that much time in jail. I think I would actually hold it against him if he believed in some dead guy that was supposed to be looking out for his well being. I know I would definitely hold it against him if he only did so to marry some psychopath that pursued someone that stood little to no chance of ever getting out of prison.
