You know what the sad truth is here? At some point during the offseason 'Go Cubs Go' is going to get played out. There will come a time when people - myself included - are like "okay, enough already", and I already hate knowing that I'll eventually feel that way. Partially because it's annoying how quickly we - as a society - oversaturate ourselves with awesome shit, but mostly because I know that if I were a Cubs fan I would parrot that goddamn tune so many fucking times that it would make the 'The Song That Doesn't End' and 'The Bird Is The Word' seem like less nauseating karaoke requests. Show me this video in two months and it'll probably have me on the verge of writing multiple negative Yelp! reviews for 'Hamilton' without actually seeing it, but right now I'm shamelessly nodding along with it like I'm sitting in the front row. I guess what I am trying to say is that we should enjoy it as much as possible before any chant that so much as starts off in a similar key has us ready to use a screwdriver as a q-tip.
And to Cubs fans: Don't let the inevitable pessimism shut you up. It's been 108 years, sing that catchy ass anthem until you lose your voice....then turn up the volume on the speakers to make up for your coarse, unbearably repetitive ass.
