The Chick From England That Booted The Game Deciding Goal Into Her Own Net Needs To Apologize To Her Entire Gender

So, we all agree that goal just set women back at least 10-15 years, right? Maybe not in society, but definitely in sports. I will give them this, it really is a no win situation. No one is tuning in going "oh man, this women's soccer game is real riveting stuff". Hell, if I wasn't American, and therefore required to be fully invested in any and all forms of international play, then I wouldn't have a damn clue the women's World Cup was even going on. And there lies the problem, because the only time women's soccer, or sports for that matter, is getting any real attention it is when they completely embarrass themselves. 

I know what this chick was trying to do. It probably wasn't the safest play, obviously, but it's not a maneuver that is unforeseen in men's play. Clear the ball out of scoring territory and give up the corner kick. Not the worst scenario in the world, all things considered. Well, she gets E for effort, but an F for execution. Leave it to a female athlete to save the most impressive shot of the entire tournament for when she is kicking it at her own net. Seriously, that was an absolute snipe. Pinpoint accuracy. I could give her 1,000 more attempts and there's not a chance she could repeat that same kick on the right net. Once in a lifetime shot at the absolute worst possible time. 

This girl costing her team an opportunity at a World Cup by booting the ball in her own net during extra time is like Michael Sam quitting his CFL team because of relationship issues. Live up to more negative stereotypes, will you? Just once could you not kick it like a girl. Watching 'Bend It Like Beckham' really had me thinking women had figured out this whole soccer thing. That is until Laura burst on the scene and causally took a shit on every bit of progression women have accomplished as athletes. Poor girl, I don't want to kill her too bad....actually she's not American so fuck her. The best part is you just know the woman that is consoling her is going to absolutely eviscerate her behind her back. Classic chick move to trade a shoulder to cry on for a back to stab.
