Oh, so benching C.J. Spiller in favor of Travaris Cadet - a player that has been cut by the Saints time and time again - was nothing more than a decision related to a specific game plan, huh Sean?
Ha! If you believed that then you're actually the perfect Saints fan. A willfully blind sucker that is a glutton for the punishment of having your team spend significant chunks of it's available money on shiny new free agents only to actively find ways not use them before lying directly to your damn face about why they aren't being used. Welcome to the club! Honestly, you were probably better off arriving prior to 2009. What is going on? What the FUCK is going on? C.J. Spiller finally gets fully healthy and shows some promise in the preseason after doing absolutely NOTHING to earn his over inflated paycheck last year, and NOW he gets cut?!? I had to watch that bum eat millions for 200 snaps that ended up being worth no more then 2-3 productive plays, and now I have to watch the investment made towards him continue to hamper this team financially? I'm not trying to act like C.J. Spiller was going to turn this club's fortunes around because...well...this team's biggest issue is not at the running back position. Still, his release signals another failed high priced pickup in a long line of failed high priced pickups. At some point the paltry success rate of players that looked like they were sure to fit the team's plans has to fall on someone other than those players. Look at the one party that is the common denominator in all these defunct marriages, and it appears there is a very clear problem within the organization. I don't know if it's Mickey Loomis for handing out too much money to undeserving guys, or Sean Payton for souring the relationships with said guys, but someone's got to answer to the handfuls upon handfuls of players that are getting paid by the Saints despite not being on their fucking roster. Seriously, their salary cap is so full of dead money that it might as well double as the mafia's burial ground. How the hell do they expect to be even remotely successful throughout the remaining years of Drew Brees career if they keep starting every season with one foot in the fucking grave? People talk about it being hard to compete when you have a quarterback making a buttload of money, but it's a hell of a lot harder when you could pay TWO more starting quarterbacks with the amount of money that you CAN'T use. I don't give two shits about C.J. Spiller. I care about what he represents, and that is a front office that doesn't know the rooter from the tooter when trying to pick out a prized pig. Jimmy Graham? Junior Galette? Brandon Browner? C.J. Spiller? Should I just add Jairus Byrd to the list now? There's no way his incompetent ass isn't next. I am not saying that the players in question didn't deserve to be moved/cut, but someone has to do a FAR better job of vetting whether or not they deserve to be signed in the first place. The failure to do so is literally in the process of costing the New Orleans Saints the remainder of whatever semblance of a "window" they have left. P.S. I know Sean Payton likes to fancy himself a Bill Belicheck disciple, but he's turning the Saints into a drunk version of the Patriots by cutting players for shock value and incurring insurmountable debt in the process.
