Cleveland.com- A judge issued a warrant for the arrest of Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon after he failed to respond to several months' worth of subpoenas in a paternity case.
Gordon is prohibited from speaking to the media because of his four-game substance abuse suspension.
The case stems from a complaint made in juvenile court from Christina Lockhart of Maple Heights, who says Gordon is the father of her now 1-year-old daughter.
Lockhart is on public welfare and is seeking child support from Gordon, according to the complaint filed by Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Kira Kittoe Krivosh.
Subpoenas were sent to Gordon in Los Angeles, and several Cleveland addresses. Gordon never responded to them, according to court records. Gordon was ordered to provide a DNA sample to the court by Sept. 25, 2015, but never did so.
Oh, come on! He's so close to finally playing! Presumably weaned his way off the weeeee-duh (h/t Stephen A. Smith) and now he has to worry about bastard children? Poor guy can't catch a break. That's not to say he shouldn't have to provide - financially and otherwise - for what is potentially his biological child. I just think we're jumping to conclusions in assuming it's definitely his. I suppose the fact that he is actively avoiding finding out makes him look pretty guilty of knocking this broad up, but have we considered the idea that he's just not a good test taker?
My sister, no matter how she studied, always struggled with standardized tests. So much so that she managed to evade them them by going to an art-centric college. Who is to say that the string of F's that Josh Gordon has received on past drug tests hasn't shook his confidence so much that he's doing all he can to dodge a paternity test he may or may not be prepared enough to pass? He can't protect his playing career so that automatically means he can't protect his penis? That deductive reasoning seems rather flawed.
You get a couple of moving violations and all the sudden you assume that every flashing light in your rearview is coming for you. You get caught stealing from a store and never again will you believe you are innocent when the alarm goes off as your walking out. You don't make the grade a couple times and you start thinking you never will. Maybe Josh Gordon is a dead beat dad. That is absolutely a possibility. You know what else is a possibility? Maybe he's just a pessimistic subject that's been traumatized by years of results that have been nothing but discouraging.
