AL- Former Clemson star quarterback Deshaun Watson didn't get the royal treatment after spotting up at a Tuscaloosa bar.
Watson, who guided Clemson to a national championship win over Alabama in January, was in Tuscaloosa for some reason Friday but bar patrons including two former Crimson Tide players weren't pleased with his presence. Alabama fans told Watson to leave Innisfree Irish Pub, one of Tuscaloosa's most popular bars, according to Twitter user @doctor_59 who uploaded a video of the proceedings. He claimed on Twitter that former Alabama linebacker Ryan Anderson approached Watson and told him to go. Anderson is seen in the background of the video behind Watson. As Watson put his head and started walking out, one woman was overhead saying sorry to the former college star and that the situation was "sad." That same voice could be heard earlier in the video saying it was rude that a fan approached Watson and told him to leave. ---- I know, I know. As a fellow sports fan it pains me to admit this too. No rational, free thinking consumer of athletics wants to believe that they are merely one step away from acting as irrationally the Crimson Tide fans and former players that treated an opposing quarterback's presence in an Alabama sports bar like their forefathers would have in the 1950's. Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is that if Deshaun Watson had ripped my heart out only to be seated next to me in the middle of my favorite shitty wing spot before the wound had even healed then I too would have felt compelled to "motherfuck" him right back into the womb from which he came. Luckily, that one difference is a rather big one. That one difference is shamelessness. There's a vast drop-off in self respect that one has to endure before they put a voice to the completely illogical thought of not wanting to be in the same restaurant as someone that caused them an inordinate amount of pain through sport. I may never drop a line that sounds like it came straight out of a Chappelle Show skit like "HAY! HAY! DE-SHAWN! YOU BETTER TAKE THAT TA-GO NOW! YOU HEAR!", but if my brain had a Southern speech impediment then I very well may think it. Going filterless in public is definitely not the proper way to treat college athletes and it shows a complete and utter lack of perspective. That being said, I don't blame these Tide Rollers for harboring extreme hatred for Deshaun Watson nearly as much as I blame them for letting that hatred interrupt his undoubtedly underwhelming meal. Grow up and learn to mutter your laughably empty threats to student-athletes under your breathe like adults, Alabama.
